Social Community Participation

If you’re a NDIS participant and have been approved for the Core supports, Daily Living category, you are able to access supports for Assistance with Social and Community Participation. This category covers assistance with activities that build skills and independence.

Support types that you may be able to access under the Assistance with Social and Community Participation in your NDIS Plan include experiences that aim to improve your ability to interact and participate with your surrounding community. Some examples include:

• Tuition fees
• Art classes
• Sports coaching
• Camps
• Classes
• Vacation activities

A support worker to assist you to participate in social and community activities such as the above.

Will funding for Assistance with Social and Community Participation be included in my Plan?

The need for Assistance with Social and Community Participation is assessed by the NDIS on a case-by-case basis. It will be included if it is decided to be a ‘reasonable and necessary’ support that meets your needs and will help you to achieve your goals.
